SEROPREVALENCE OF BOVINE BRUCELLOSIS FROM 2009 TO 2011

Bovine Brucellosis is cause by Brucella sp. affecting cattle all over the world.  This study was conducted study the trend of Brucellosis from 2009 to 2011 based on the serological data obtained from diagnostic cases in the Veterinary Research Institute. All samples were tested using complement fixation test. In 2009, the reactor rate for bovine brucellosis was 0.04% and it kept increasing in 2010 to become 0.54%. However, the reactor rate drastically increased in 2011, with 1.88%. In 2009 to 2011, all states in Peninsular and east Malaysia were tested for bovine brucellosis. Factors that contribute to the increased in reactor rate maybe due to movement of animals from state to state, management, feed and weather.
