GENETICALLY ENGINEERED LIVE ATTENUATED BACTERIAL VACCINES (LOCAL ISOLATES) OF BRUCELLA MELITENSIS IN SHEEP AND GOAT: CONSTRUCTION / INACTIVATION OF AROC GENE FROM BRUCELLA MELITENSIS (2010)

Brucella melitensis infection causes considerable economic losses to the small ruminant industry. AroC gene has the fuction for choristmate synthesis (aromatic compound synthesis). Mutation of these genes will lead to impairement of growth and serious metabolic problems in bacteria. Inactivation / construction of this gene is done by inserting a foreign sequence (Kanamycin gene) in between the AroC gene, thus eliminating the original sequemce of the AroC gene.
