REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF FRIESIAN CROSSBRED CATTLE ON DVS FARMS

Other than milk production and growth rate, the reproductive performance of dairy cattle in the tropics is of particular importance. Animals with good reproductive performance ensure increased productivity of the herd, better economics of production and in some cases, the sustainability of the dairy enterprise. Since the 1970’s the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has been crossing zebu breeds with Friesian to produce various crossbred types. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reproductive performance of these crossbred types at DVS farms.
