SEROTYPING OF INFECTIOUS BURSAL DISEASE VIRUS USING TISSUE CULTURE LSCC-BK3 CELL

Isolation and identification of Infectious Bursal Disease virus (IBDV) is not usually attempted for routine diagnostic purposes as the virus may prove difficult to isolate (Lukert P.D. & Saif Y.M. 1997). In practice, laboratory diagnosis of IBD depend upon the detection of specific antibodies to the virus in tissues, using immunological or molecular methods. Study by Ogawa et al., (1998) , has shown that IBDV is able to replicate and adapt in tissue culture LSCC-BK3 (a bursal-derived lymphoblastoid cell line). Hence this tissue culture was used in this study for the isolation and identification of serotype of the very virulence IBDV (vv IBDV) from suspected cases of IBD infection in chicken.

Keywords : VV Infectious bursal disease virus (vv IBDV), LSCC-BK3 cells, serotyping.
