MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION AND PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS OF VIRULENT INFECTIOUS BURSA DISEASE FROM VILLAGE CHICKEN

The characteristics of the pathogenic Infectious Bursa Disease Virus (IBDV) that infects avian species other than commercial chickens are largely unknown. In this study, by using molecular methods, we characterized one IBDV sample 1881/2015, from Malaysian village chicken which is adulterated descendant of the Southeast Asian jungle fowl (Gallus banking) that were commonly reared in the backyard. The sample was grouped as very virulent IBDV (vvIBDV) strain. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that 1881/2015 was monophyletic with other vvIBDV isolates and closely related to the China vvIBDV isolates.
