Geographical Information Systems (GIS) besides being used for mapping and navigation, has wide applications which include land use and planning management. With the rapid development of the Internet and Cloud Computing, web-based GIS provides for the sharing of geographical information in a user-friendly environment highly suitable for corporate-wide management applications. The high-cost investments of computer hardware, GIS application software solutions and dedicated man-power had been an obstacle for the implementation of GIS solutions to the DVS. This study explores the use of Map Guide Open Source (a free Open Source application) installed on an Apache Web server to provide a user-friendly and cost effective GIS solution for DVS. The mapping solutions are overlaid on Google map to provide the mapping background.
