Palmkernelcake(PKC)isalreadyknownashigh-fiber,mediumgradeproteinfeedthatbestsuitedtoruminants.AccordingtostudydonebyShariffetal.(2012)nutritivevalueofPKCwerevariedandsomesamplesdidnotachievetheproperspecificationvalues.Toobtainabalanceddietforlivestockfeeding,nutrientqualityofPKCshouldbemonitoredregularly.Conventionally,wetchemistryanalysisiswell-establishedandapprovedbyAOACasthereferencemethodtodeterminethenutritionalvaluesinfeedstuffs.However,theprocedureistime-consuming,expensiveandnotenvironmentalfriendly.Simpler,lessexpensivetechnologywithshorterturnovertimewasneededforfeedtesting.
