The third larval stage (L3) of<br \/>\nstrongylid nematode were fed orally to<br \/>\ntwo experimental sheep. Each animal was<br \/>\ngiven 3 ml L3 or equivalent to 3000 larvae.<br \/>\nFaecal samples were then collected weekly<br \/>\nfor a 10 week duration. The FAMACHA<br \/>\nscale for anemia estimation was used and<br \/>\nblood collection through ear tip was also<br \/>\ndone twice a week to measure the packed<br \/>\ncell volume (PCV) of the blood. The results<br \/>\nshow that the PCV decreases while faecal<br \/>\negg counts increase over the study period.<br \/>\nThe FAMACHA scale also increases with<br \/>\ntime indicating a progressive anemia<br \/>\nwith the decreasing PCV.
