The general purpose of implementing biogas plant in an animal farm is to obtain biogas from animal manure and the effluent of biogas digester after fermentation process can be used as organic fertiliser. There are 15 biogas plants based on livestock waste that have been developed throughout Malaysia until 2018. Two more biogas plants are planned to be built in Segamat and Keningau. All biogas plants built were originally aimed for domestic use which is as source of energy used for cooking and incinerator as well as to generate electricity for farm use. Out of 15 biogas plants, 7 plants were built on cattle farms, 4 plants on pig farms, 3 plants on poultry farms and only 1 plant on buffalo farm. Total construction cost for each biogas plant is between MYR4,500 to MYR30 million. Based on the survey conducted, it revealed that only 40% of the plants are still functional. However, 60% were dormant or nonfunctional due to poor maintenance, design errors, lack of technical knowledge to run the system consistently, improper planning and monitoring or insufficient livestock waste to continuously producing biogas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
NURUL AINI M.Y.1, SUHAIMI D.2, NURSHUHADA S.1, ROSLAN M.Y.1 AND NORAZEAN M.F.1<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"template":"","doc_categories":[83],"doc_tags":[9,74],"doc_author":[],"file_type":[],"class_list":["post-1553","dlp_document","type-dlp_document","status-publish","hentry","doc_categories-penyelidikan-pengeluaran-ternakan","doc_tags-bpt","doc_tags-pemakanan","no-post-thumbnail"],"download_url":false,"file_size":"","filename":false,"download_count":"","version_history":[],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/dlp_document\/1553","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/dlp_document"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/dlp_document"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/dlp_document\/1553\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1553"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"doc_categories","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/doc_categories?post=1553"},{"taxonomy":"doc_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/doc_tags?post=1553"},{"taxonomy":"doc_author","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/doc_author?post=1553"},{"taxonomy":"file_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/research.dvs.gov.my\/ral\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/file_type?post=1553"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
