Dua kaedah pengesanan penyakit TB telah berjaya dibangunkan dengan menggunakan teknik PCR (<em Polymerase Chain Reaction<\/em , Tindakbalas Rantaian Polimeras) bagi mengesan kehadiran bakteria Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex (MTC) dan kaedah multiplek PCR untuk membezakan Mycobacterium bovis dengan Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Kaedah PCR yang dibangunkan ini menggunakan kit ekstraksi yang ada dipasaran telah berjaya menentusahkan kehadiran bakteria Tb dengan lebih tepat dan cepat (1-3 hari) berbanding konvensional (3 bulan).
