Oleh itu, proses pengeringan dilakukan sehingga kandungan air berkurang kepada sekurang-kurangnya 15% untuk penyimpanan yang selamat tanpa pertumbuhan kulat.<\/p\n\n\n<p Kebiasaannya, bahan makanan atau produk pertanian dikeringkan secara terbuka di bawah sinaran matahari sebagai kaedah pengeringan tradisional oleh kebanyakan petani atau penternak di negara ini. Namun, kaedah ini boleh mempengaruhi kualiti bahan makanan akibat pencemaran oleh habuk, debu, gangguan daripada serangga dan haiwan perosak serta risiko cuaca seperti hujan. Tambahan pula, kaedah pengeringan seperti ini juga memerlukan kawasan yang luas dan tempoh pengeringan yang lebih lama.<\/p\n\n\n<p Oleh itu, satu inovasi sistem pengeringan yang menggabungkan teknologi solar dan konsep rumah hijau dibangunkan sebagai kaedah alternatif bagi pengeringan bahan makanan atau produk pertanian. Kelebihan sistem pengeringan solar ini adalah dapat mempercepatkan tempoh pengeringan, pengeringan lebih sekata, melindungi bahan daripada pencemaran dan sekaligus dapat meningkatkan kualiti bahan makanan atau produk pertanian tersebut.
